After nearly twenty years of preaching God’s Word and serving the local church, there is no doubt that God’s call upon Pastor Bryan’s life is the preaching of God’s Word and the shepherding of His people. He was called as Senior Pastor of Alexander on August 1, 2010. As our Pastor, he brings a clear Word from God with his dynamic sermons and his passionate delivery style. He truly loves what he does.
Dr. Ray received his Bachelor’s degree from Union University in Jackson, TN, his Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, and his Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Pastor Bryan has served local churches in North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor with Liberty University Online.
Pastor Bryan and his wife Christi reside in Portsmouth, VA, with their three children: Jonathan (18); Noelle (16); and Nathanael (6). Our Pastor’s family loves to spend time with God’s people. He and Christi enjoy ministering to married couples and leading marriage retreats. When Pastor Bryan and Christi are not serving in the local church or homeschooling their children, they love to travel, shoot, hunt, go to the beach, and visit family in Tennessee.
And now, a word from our Pastor . . .
Greetings, beloved! It is my hope that I get to meet you in person here at Alexander Baptist Church. Until that time, I thought it might be helpful for you to learn what my top priorities are. I am passionate about the Son of God, the Spirit of God, the Glory of God, the Word of God, and the Church of God. After the Lord, my family comes first. I am madly in love with my wife and children. My first ministry passion is preaching the Word of God. I also love to pastor/shepherd God’s people. I believe that my past has equipped me to develop ministries for men and marriage. The Bible verse that seems to be at the forefront of my heart and mind each day is John 3:30, He must increase, but I must decrease. To God be the Glory! I hope to see you soon.
