About Alexander

Our Vision + Mission

His Gospel, His Glory

At Alexander Baptist Church, everything we do is for the glory of God. We’re a Christ-centered church family learning to love God and love others more every day.

When you walk through our doors, we hope it feels like coming home. Whether you’re new to faith, new to the area, or just looking for a church where you can grow, we want you to feel welcomed, known, and loved.

We believe God changes lives through His Word, His Spirit, and His people. That’s why we focus on preaching the Bible, worshiping with passion, building real relationships, and living life together as a family.

Our heart beats for the nations. It’s our joy to be part of God’s mission to rescue and redeem people from every tribe, tongue, and nation (Revelation 5:9). We pray that God would use our church to be a small part of His big, global Gospel story.

Our Beliefs

We’re part of the Southern Baptist Convention and hold to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, a summary of key biblical truths that guide our faith and practice.

Below you’ll find an overview of what we believe. If you ever have questions or just want to talk more, our pastors would love to connect with you.

Commonly Asked Questions

What denomination are you associated with?

We are associated with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia. We align with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

Why Expository Preaching?

We practice expository preaching because it carefully explains God’s Word verse by verse, drawing out the meaning God intended. This approach helps the church hear God’s truth rather than human opinion, grow us in spiritual maturity, and help us learn to live in obedience to Christ (2 Tim. 3:16–4:2).

what is the role of Pastors/Deacons?

We are a pastor-led church, not a deacon-led church. We believe pastors (or elders) are the servant leaders of the church responsible for feeding, leading, and protecting the flock of God. They are to “devote themselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word” (Acts 6:4). Deacons are the leading servants in the church who are to assist the elders in carrying out practical ministry to church members.

where are you located?

Good question. Some people have a hard time finding us. We are tucked right off i664 in the Western Branch area in Chesapeake, just off Dock Landing Road. Address: 4316 Pamela Court, Chesapeake, VA 23321.
